Robin's book is more a personal travelogue about football and the people he met, rather than being a 'Rovers' book. He was a great bloke, a wonderfully upbeat human being who turned his affliction into an attitude; his crutches were his best mates as well as being his badge of honour and a convenient weapon, if necessary. Who needs functioning legs when you've crutches?
He despised pity and was an absolute charmer when it came to women. Still hard to believe that he's gone. His funeral was a very sad moment. But it's people such as him that makes Shamrock Rovers a great club to support and we will honour Robert and others who didn't make it to Tallaght when we do eventually get there.
Rovers is a magnet for people with attitude and Robin had it in bucketloads. Respect. Crutches rock!
