    El See Sense

Following on from the earlier announcements there have been a couple of important rule changes within the eircom League.
The most important of them recognises the league's progress and the fact that a number of clubs have been robbed of their most talented players because of their success and international call-ups.
The new rule states that any club who has a player called up for international duty at either senior or under-21 level for either the Republic or Northern Ireland will be allowed to seek a postponement of their domestic fixture. The allowance will be for the day of the international and the day before or after.

with ALL our internationals, at least we will have them for all games

only problem is with games due to be postponed for the inter-toto and now for u-21internationals,,we could face a massive backlog

Just proves if you make enough noise something will get done. Well done to Dolan for getting something done about it.

It beggared belief that we had to play against Pats on a Friday without O'Flynn. when a few miles down the road our best player was being used by the fai. Even if that Pats game had been moved to a Sunday you wouldnt mind but to schedule both games at the same time was madness. Not only did the FAI lose out on revenue of people who might have gone to the game if they were not at the Pats match they gave a two fingered salute to the domestic game.
    Oh no not them again

i'm worried that we're going to face a terrible back log of games this season, but it is a positive move to allow postponements for called up players.

i seem to remember flynny scoring for the u21s that night as well while we all stood in inchicore begging for his talents... luckily beehan had an off night and scored a belter in the 91st

    Thumbs up

The previous run wasn't a conspiracy against City as Shels & more particularily Bohs have had to play without first team players in recent seasons.

Good chance Kearney & Doyle be in the u-21 squad this year which would have been nasty for city even allowing for better cover in those positions this year.

Agree with SÓC there- Dolan must be congratulated for making this an issue. There is the problem of fixture backlog, but I'm sure it can be sorted out. Certainly no need to put any team at a disadvantage for having quality young players!
