for game playing etc i though upgrading them might be handy?

What Processor speed? - when reboot machine should hopefully see XXX Mhz at the initial black screen...
How much memory? Start/Programs//Setting/Control Panel/System - should see how much RAM there...
HD size? - check in My Computer or Windows Explorer....

Processor gonna be important as RAM should be affordable to upgrade & same with disk space...
