    They must be joking.

One are they going looking for trouble?. Two, if city qualify for the final thats over 200 miles for a cup final. The idea of a home and away final seems much better in a competition like this. Oriel Park doesnt seem up to standard anyway.

I shouldn't worry about it. 90% of the natives are out on conditional release, so they're keeping their noses clean.

    Let's come back to that

Not sure holidaysong was being entirely serious. Hope not anyway.

I could be a bit tricky for them though deciding on a place for the final : just say it is Linfield vs. Shels final - can't have belfast or dublin and you need it somewhere roughly equal travelling distance for both fans. And what town lies half way between Belfast and Dublin?

    ^^^

The Flansiro in Longford wouldn't be a bad option IMO - its fully seated, and not a terrible distance for either to get to.

Not sure that it would be big enough. The final could attract more than 6,000.

Linfield and Glentoran have big support and with the final down for a Saturday either team would get a big crowd.

Maybe if it was Shels v Portadown

I can't see a 2 legged final happening so probably best just to flip a coin for venue. Neutral venues good idea in theory but in practice attendance would be severly reduced.

I know its €150k for the winner but must be half decent prize for 2nd place too?

€80k for runners up seemingly..you're guaranteed €30k prize money once you enter then an extra €50k if you reach the final and another €70k if you win. Including gates it's nice earner
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

AFAIK, the gate will be taken by the organisers

As one of the few here who has driven the Belfast to Longford road- tis not just the easiest

Dunno about that, i'd imagine you're guaranteed your two home gates in the groups anyway, whatever about the final..organisers may get a cut but as for getting it all I don't see the clubs standing for that

longford is terrible for segregation. one road to it, and only one end for entering the ground
oriel is a dump,it would embarrass the competition to use that as the ground for the showpiece game of the competition.
2 legged final is the best option imo

I hate two legged finals and since there's 13 games it'd seem the final will be a one off match. I'd say they'll pick the venue before the tournament kicks off and if that happens to suit certain teams in the final than so be it, sort of like the champions league.
