Football in the Community Development Officers

In an announcement today, Noel Ahern T.D. Minister of State with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy at the Department of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht affairs was pleased to confirm that in partnership with the FAI and Dublin City Council, he has allocated funding from the Young People’s Facilities and Services Fund (YPFSF), for the employment of 7 Football in the Community Development Officers to operate in Dublin City.

These Football in the Community Development Officers will work closely with the current Sports Development Officers funded through the YPFSF in Dublin and to develop and co-ordinate the implementation of various football programmes in specific areas of the city where soccer is the sport of preference for the 10 – 21 year olds.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
