    FAI nominees announced

Former Irish captain, Kenny Cunningham, goalkeeper, Shay Given and centre-half, Richard Dunne, head the list of nominees for the 16th eircom International Soccer Awards which were announced today.

The three are vying for the Senior International Player award which was won last year by Kevin Kilbane. Kevin Doyle is listed in two categories. In the Young International Player section he is nominated along with Stephen Elliott and Andy Reid while in the Under 21 Player section he is joined by Wayne Henderson and Jay Tabb.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Shay Given should get the Senior award.
Kevin Doyle has been the only bright light for Irish Soccer abroad this season so he deserves all he gets.

Nonsense. Shay Given has been the only good Irish player consistently over the last year.

Has to be Given, Dunne has done well, but not as well as Given.

    FAI Schools International Player
James Chambers - Ard Scoil Lasalle/Shelbourne FC*
Gary Deegan - Chanel College/Shelbourne FC
Adam Rooney - Palmerstown Community School/Stoke City FC

*What a hero this chap is. Played with him on that school team. He was on trial with Aberdeen last year but he decided that he wanted to stay in the eL
He is from the Baldoyle area and he has his feet kept firmly on the ground. He's gonna make a name for himself.

James Chambers - coming to an eL ground near you!!

Just for the record his name is Stephen Henderson and he is the Cobh manager and former goalkeeping coach with Cork City. I don't think he ever played in goal for Cobh.
