Expected win for Athlone, but they left it late to score.

Would've been a tragedy as we dominated with only lumps forward from Shay Kelly troubling us. O'Neill hit the post, headed inches wide and missed a 1 on 1. Fahey, Kirby and Murphy with great chances too

Good night for Pats. If a scoreline reflected play it probably should have been 7-3 in Pats favour. No idea how the town didn't equalise in the last minute. Not a great game of football but I've saw worse. Longford hoofed the ball at every opportunity but Pats played the better ball on the ground and had more of the possesion, or should I say, made the most use out of their possesion. Also had more shots on goal but missed the killer punch, as per usual.

Congrats to Athlone on their win in their first game in thier new ground. Also, fair play to the Athlone Town supporters who travelled from Derry for the game! Thats dedication! Met them in McDonalds in Longford as they were making their way back to Derry. The league could do with more people of that calibre!

Are there Athlone fans based in Derry ! We'll have to get them along to the Brandywell when they're not busy...

I know an Athlone fan in London, but he's not of a mind to travel back for games.

Last season it would have been an equalizer then a winner, we should have buried you in the 1st half. If we play like that for the rest of the season its going to be a very good season.

Lucky we have a new centreback to stop the long balls

to be fair i thought we played better football in the second half, agreed about hoofing it in the first though.. was encouraged by what i saw from us tonite, thought prunty played well going foreward and all in all were it not for a crappy first goal we might have got a point. pats showed lots of potential tonight but o'neill missed at least one sitter, they'll need to be more clinical
arent we all just magic little monkeys...
