2 buses and a good few that flew. Maybe 100-150 in all at the pub.

Are there not other sports on Paddy's Day that might be televised anyway? I know BBC or whoever always schedules some NI schools rugby thing, foR example. Is there no GAA on Paddy's Day ?
All-Ireland club finals are on every St Paddy's day on RTE.

Ah one of the good ol' foot.ie rules. Have a little pop at Derry and within 20 minutes one of their fans will react to it... As predictable as UCD and the wagecap or Bohs fans with any mention of Rovers

[quote=Raheny Red;856210] Glentoran's home crowd is an embarrassment.

Not as much as of an embarassment as their floodlights. Never thought I'd pay into a ground and have to squint to watch a football match.

Do you own any or are they owned by the council?

    Some old....
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

I don't want to be overly critical of Glentoran it's just that I was suprised by the poor quality of light at the Setanta Cup fixture in the Oval last year.

I don't really think that it matters who owns the floodlights

I've no idea about aviation but would the poor light of these floodlights have anything to do with the very low flying planes

I think they have improved their floodlights since last year. But not totally certain.

    Portadown is far worse though.

Who cares? Our whole stadium is owned by the council. But not for much longer.

Seriously gone get off your wee anti-derry buzz. Typical Belfast...

So do you want it to be a draw or do you want it not to be a draw to keep Linfield, Glentoran and Derry separate

Linfield have always been seeded, Derry and Glens have always not been seeded and there's only two groups. It's unusual but it's not unbelievable to have 3 teams drawn together three years in a row.

EDIT: Now getting Cyprus for three qualification groups in a row - there's definitley something fishy about that

Hmmmmn, the parent club won't receive funding for upgrade due to the ongoing situation surrounding our ground move.

Just as well you play in the mini San Siro then, isn't it?

    Unless you check the odds.

Just a thought; do you think the local Cork police might be a bit concerned about hundreds of ****ed up working class Protestant northerners arriving in their city, with many staying over?

Not sure if anyone would be interested but here is the views from Gary Hamilton. Winners of 2005, Semi Finalists in 2006 and runners-up in 2007. Lucky eh?

    We're outsiders in cup: Hamilton

    Setanta Sports Cup

    Friday, January 18, 2008

    By Stuart McKinley

Gary Hamilton has ruled out the possibility of an Irish League club winning the Setanta Sports Cup.

And in a move that will no doubt wind-up Linfield fans, the Glentoran striker claimed that the Windsor Park men got lucky when they won the inaugural competition in 2005.

The Blues have since fallen slightly short of claiming the title of all-Ireland champions again, reaching the semi-final in 2006 before they were runners-up to Drogheda United last season.

According to Hamilton though, that's as close as anyone will get to bringing the trophy north of the border while the current situation persists.

"I think it is an impossible task for an Irish League team to win it," said Hamilton.

"I know Linfield won it one year, but I think if you watched that match they got away lucky that year. Shelbourne deserved to win the game, they dominated and Linfield created two chances and scored two goals.

Linfield and Glentoran will meet yet again in the group stages of this season's competition after yesterday's draw in Dublin.

Derry City and St Patrick's Athletic were also placed in Group Two, while Cliftonville will make their debut in the competition away to holders Drogheda United on opening night, February 26 after coming out in Group One alongside Dungannon Swifts and Cork City.

A week later Linfield host Derry City while the Glens go to Dublin to take on St Pat's.

Each team will play each other once in the Spring before the competition resumes in September. The final is on October 18.

Hamilton doesn't give a reason for feeling that IL clubs won't win it this year.
