I'm probably misremembering previous manager hunts, but I get the feeling there weren't so few genuine candidates previously (I'm not counting people who tell the newspapers they'd be interested in the job). At the moment it feels like Carsley or Lennon. Hughton is peripheral and I think that's about it.

So if Carsley declines and the Lennon interest is taken down after general public reaction, where does that leave us after three months? (And tbh given how quickly Kenny was let go, the FAI must have been considering other options before November)

I'd imagine a good few of the managers from the Asia / African cup will become available now that the tournaments are wrapping up. Could someone like Hugo Broos be worth a look? He took a quite frankly poor South Africa side (almost all play in SA, one or two in european leagues but none in the top leagues) to the semi final, losing on pens to Nigeria. Several league titles with brugge in his home country.

He is 71 though which I feel is a factor in any appointment (should it be?).

A baldy and a ginger campaigning for a warm weather camp and all that sunburn and/or sunscreen costs? Can't see it myself. With this news, I think its Poyet.

    Welcome Gus.

He'd be mad to take that with all the issues surrounding the club.

I dont generally pay too much attention to Keith Tracey, but in a world where there is no information leaking out here is what he has supposedly heard....

Is Treacy actually suggesting that most people would want Roy Keane? Somewhat discredits him as any kind of reliable source.

Have a look at social media and you'll be shocked at the amount who actually do want Keane. Off The Ball did a survey a couple weeks ago and Roy Keane was 1st choice, he had 19% more votes than Lennon and Carsley who were joint 2nd.... dont underestimate the stupidity of the Irish "football" public

Yes without question , but then Keane would basically assault someone and that would be that

He'd be more conservative so yeah I'd say he'd have gotten better results than Kenny.
